McClure Elementary School has a long history in our community. The original elementary school was established in 1978, located in the two-story building that currently houses Compass High School.
When McClure Elementary School was established, it served just fourth and fifth grade students. In 1980, kindergarten classes were added to the school. The school served kindergarten, fourth and fifth grade students for more than two decades.
In 2000, plans were put in place to build a new McClure Elementary School facility. The new school was set to be located yards from the original building at the corner of West Second Street and Avenue G. In the fall of 2002, while construction was underway on the new school building, McClure Elementary became a school for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
In August 2003 the new building was completed and students moved in to start the new school year in their new school. Today the school is headed by Principal Jenniffer Mears and a caring group of teachers and staff members. At McClure Elementary School we're focused on providing superior instruction for every child, every day.
